Logan Snell is 18 years old and lives in rural Kansas. He built Speak alone, over the course of several months, after researching AAC tools and encountering a consistent finding: children with communication disabilities are abused at 3 to 4 times the rate of their speaking peers, and the thing that makes them most vulnerable is the same thing keeping them from reporting it.
No AAC app has ever addressed that. Every existing product gives every child the same symbol grid, at the same price, with no consideration for what happens when the adult in the room is the problem. Speak was built specifically to close that gap.
The private safety channel — a way for a nonverbal child to silently alert a trusted adult outside the primary caretaker relationship — is built into the free version. It always will be. Safety should never require a subscription.
